Henrica (Ricky) Maria Verbakel went to the arms of the Lord on, December 13, 2011. She was surrounded by family and friends at VON Sakura House, Woodstock, Ontario. Ricky was born on September 13th, 1923, in Eindhoven, Netherlands, she immigrated to Canada in 1953 with her four children. Once in Canada, she gave birth to an additional six children for a total of ten. The family was raised in the Seaforth and Kitchener area. Pre-deceased by her parents Henricus and Johanna Dortmans, her son Bill and her brothers Bert, John and sister Tini. Left to mourn her loss are her children Henry (Donna) Verbakel, Ken (Verna) Verbakel, Anne (Wally) VanNiekerk, Josie Windsor, Richard (Patsy) Verbakel, Betsy (Dennis) Broughton, Cathy (Jim) Encil, John (Peggy) Verbakel, Frank (Linda) Verbakel, daughter-in-law Brenda Verbakel, and twenty-five grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 37 Church St. East in Elora, on December 14th from 7-9pm and December 15th from 2-4 & 7-9pm with parish prayers at 8:45pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Immaculate Roman Catholic Church, 267 Geddes St. in Elora, on Friday, December 16th, 2011 at 11:00am, followed by interment at St. Mary – St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
