Obituary for Helen Ruth Lindsay

Helen Ruth  Lindsay
Passed away peacefully on March 20, 2018,in her 89th year, after a brief illness, at Groves Memorial Community Hospital.
Helen is pre-deceased by her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Douglas Hayes Lindsay (d.2005) and her youngest son Andrew Malcolm Lindsay (d.2006).
Helen is survived by her children, Jim Lindsay (Cindy), Barbara Maguire (Alan), Elizabeth Bishenden (Warren), daughter in law Tracey Lindsay (Carlo Zen). Grandma Helen to Jaimie (Charlie), Julia (Mike), Bryan (Samantha), Meghan, Rose, Malcolm, Jack, Heather and Stuart. Great Grandma to Nuada, Fionnbharra and Cillian.
Helen received her Nursing Diploma from the Kitchener Waterloo Hospital School of Nursing in 1952, followed by many years of nursing at Groves Memorial Hospital. She was active in her community through the Women’s Institute, 4-H, Fergus Agricultural Society and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Fergus.
Helen’s fierce love of the farm and her family will live on in her grandchildren. Those who knew Helen will remember her for her candour, her no nonsense attitude, her kind heart and generous spirit.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 11:00 to 1:00pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 1:00pm.
