Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Helen Hilker can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Helen Dorothea Hilker (McManus)

Helen Dorothea  Hilker (McManus)
Passed away peacefully at home with family by her side after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Helen was just 6 days shy of her 70th birthday. She leaves behind her loving husband of 54 years-Jim Hilker, daughter Gloria, sons James Jr (Darla) and John (Tina). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Joshua, Shawna (Brandon), Brandy, Sarah (Sandy) as well as her step grandchildren: Melissa (Jeremy), Elizabeth (Tyler), Johnny (Amber), Kristy (Corey) and Bradley. She was the best “GG” to: Shayla, Brielle, JJ, Marcus and Kael. Survived by her many siblings: Tom “TJ” (Faye), Mary (Bill), John “Hugh” (Margo), Rita, Patricia, Jean and Gerald and her brother-in-law Ralph (Shirley), sister-in-law Dolores. Predeceased by her parents Jerry and Geraldine McManus, brother Charles “Chuck”, sister Rose Ann, her mother and father-in-law Clarence and Elsie Hilker, two nephews Shawn and Billy, brother-in-law Gaetan and sister-in-law Jean. Helen was a long time CWL and Legion member, she was considerate and kind hearted, always giving to others. Thank you to GRH Cancer Centre, paramed and care partners for all of their loving support. Visitation for Helen will be held at The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 37 Church Street East in Elora on Thursday March 30th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral Mass will be held at The St. Mary’s Immaculate Church in Elora, at 11am on Friday March 31st.
