Obituary for Harold Frederick Hall

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harold Frederick Hall, a much loved and cherished husband to Arlene, proud father to Wayne, Gary (Sherry), Allan (Kelly), Barb (Victor) Kelloway and Kevin (Krista), beloved grandfather to 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and brother to Neil (Lorraine). Harold is predeceased by his parents, Bessie and Russell Hall and sister, Nancy (Karl) Watson.

Harold was born and raised in the Elora area and married Arlene in 1954. They taught our family the true meaning of love over their 68 years of marriage. Harold was a farmer at heart and farmed the land on the Elora Road until he and Arlene moved to Elora in 1987. Harold was a loyal, respected member of the community, and a lifetime member of Bethany United Church. He loved to engage in conversations and share his knowledge of local history and family heritage as it was close to his heart.

Harold, words cannot describe how much we are all going to miss you! You were a true Blue Jays and Maple Leafs fan! You were always smiling quietly in the background, but when you spoke, we all listened. We appreciate all the life lessons you have shared with us over the years and that we always knew family came first for you. We love that you were always up for a game of cards with family and friends. You always had a pack of gum in your shirt pocket and both your kids and grandkids would smile at you, you would get a twinkle in your eye and out came the package of gum. In our hearts, you hold a place no one else will ever fill and each of us will have our own special memories of you that we will hold onto forever.

Visitation will be held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 11 AM, with a reception to immediately follow, upstairs in the Wellington Room.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Harold’s memory may be made to the Groves Memorial Community Hospital Foundation, or to a charity of your choice, and are greatly appreciated by his family.
