Peacefully on Saturday January 9th, 2010 with his family at his side at Hamilton General Hospital. Gerry Fitzpatrick, age 65 years of Fergus. Dearly loved husband of Bonnie (Robertson) for nearly 39 years (March). Much loved father of Jeff (David) of Toronto and Brad(Meggin) of Fergus. Dear brother of Viola Eckersley, Robert and Thomas “Bud” of Fergus, Brother in law of Wayne (Barb)Robertson of Arthur and Jack Robertson of Fergus. Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Alvin and Pearl (Hutchinson), brothers Bill and Don, sisters Marj and Marie, also predeceased by father- in-law Hilliard Robertson and mother-in-law Laura (Robertson) Holmes. Longtime employee of G.S.W. in the pump department and Shipping department. Former longtime member of the Fergus Fire Department. Gerry had spent the last six years battling cancer and complications from radiation treatments, only to have the cancer return. He spent every day in pain of some degree. He fought a heroic battle to the end. His friends and neighbours knew that Gerry almost always had the right tool or solution for all of their odd jobs and projects. His greatest joy was having his sons come home for visits and good meals. Rest in peace Dad. Friends will be received at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus, on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be conducted in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 13th at 1:00pm. Private family interment to follow.
