Condolence From: Janice and Bill
Condolence: We met George pretty much the first day we moved in across the road when needing help with a lawn mower. George waggled a finger at me and said in an authoritative voice, ‘We’re neighbours. I help you and when I need help, you’ll help me.’ And that’s the way it was. Over the years we gave each other a hand with hay, sheep, snow, ‘fat as toads’ ponies and the list goes on. He was a wonderful, kind gentleman who always had time for a chat. We are happy and thankful for having such a great neighbour. We will miss you George! Especially your wave from the barn yard! Janice & Bill (and Scout)

Condolence: My sincere sympathy to George's family. He was truly a unique gentleman. As a rookie when I was elected to Fergus Council in the mid 1970's, George very quickly became a mentor and "you want to do what?" guide. George made it very clear that his number one priority was the Fergus taxpayer. The Town benefited greatly from his guidance to many Councils. In later years, I happened to see him showing his sheep and learned about his other special interests. George, you will be missed.

Condolence: Muriel, Donna, Steve & Family's Our sympathy to you. I started working with George in 1960. He had excellent work ethics. If you were out a penny, balancing books, it had to be found. He always said , " if you don't find it, it will come back to haunt you". He served the Town of Fergus well, always putting the taxpayer first! Sorry we can't be there . We will be in touch when we get home. Sincerely Faye & Don

Condolence: In the late 70's George, as Clerk Treasurer, was faced with a newly elected, completely inexperienced Town Council from Mayor down.. George coached us, encouraged us, guided us and when necessary threatened ,scolded and cajoled us until we got up to his standards and got the job done. Over the years I respected,George, loved his sense of humour and I recognized he " didn't suffer fools easily". He was loyal to his Faith, his family, his friends and his community. He was a wonderful person. Well done George- Rest in Peace.

Condolence: Muriel and Family: We had the honour of getting to know George only very recently, having become neighbours three years ago. In what seems such a short time he quickly became a great friend to us. George offered to stable my pony in return for help with his own horses when needed. Each morning we would have great chats about everything and anything you could think of - and put the world to rights. I often talked to him about work, horses, sheep, my own sports teams and - of course - hockey. It often made me smile to get one of his great big waves as we drove past or to have a roadside chat that often turned into an hour or so of catch-up. He was a wonderful, lovely man and we will miss him dearly. I hope his legacy will give you strength in the next few days and weeks. Thank you, George - for everything. We will remember your kindness always and be thankful to have known you. XX
