Obituary for George William "Bill" Miller

George William "Bill" Miller
June 30, 1932 - Jan19, 2014
After a fulfilling life, Bill passed with peaceful dignity surrounded by family. He had a truly generous heart and soul and was happiest in the company of his family and especially his beloved late wife Shirley (nee: Bush) who he dearly missed. They were never apart in life and are together once again. Bill openly advertised his passion for the Montreal Canadians, and was an accomplished goalie himself. He also excelled at lacrosse and won the Canadian Golden-Glove boxing championship in his weight division twice. “Billy” had a bit of mischief in him and everyone who knew him got to experience his teasing and tricks first-hand. Bill is survived by his children Dawne (David) Robinson, Roxanne Miller and Paul (Stephanie) Miller. His grandchildren Leah and Jackson Geggie, Thomas Miller and Dryden and Tiana Miller were very special to him and will always cherish the time they had with him. Brother Silas (Joan) Miller and sisters Lillian Morton and Linda (Rick) Cowan, also mourn his loss. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Heritage River and especially the Wellington Terrace who became like a second family to him in a very short time. Family and friends will be received at The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus, for visitation on Friday, January 24th from 7-9pm and Saturday January 25th from 1-2 pm, after which a Celebration of Bill’s life will commence at 2pm. Family and friends desiring to make donations in Bill’s memory in lieu of flowers, may direct their gifts to either the Parkinson Foundation or The Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Facility. www.grahamgiddyfh.com 519 843 3100.
