Obituary for Friedrich Wilhelm Schwittay

Schwittay, Friedrick Wilhelm

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving Husband, Father and Opa on July 24, 2019 at home in Waterloo in his 95th year. He is survived by his beloved wife Erna of 69 years, daughters Claudia (Pat ) and Ingrid ( Chuck), and grandchildren Rachel, David and Ian. He was born in Germany in 1924 and grew up in the city if Bochum, served in the navy on the Admiral Scheer, and trained as an industrial electrician. In 1958 He and Erna came to Canada looking for a better life. They arrived in Sault Ste. Marie and then moved on to Elliot Lake where Papa found work in various mines. They heard through the grapevine of the community of Kitchener-Waterloo and Papa was able to secure a job at BF Goodrich where he worked as an electrician till he retired and earned the nickname of Ace. He was an avid fisherman and rarely came home empty handed. He truly enjoyed the great outdoors and his food. Private cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home Waterloo Chapel 617 King St. N. Waterloo. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and would be appreciated by the family.
