Obituary for Eve Rosemary Holdway

The family and friends of Eve Rosemary Holdway are saddened to announce her passing on December 5, 2021.

Eve was born in Croydon, Surrey, England in 1934, where she grew up with her two older sisters, Audrey and Shirley. Eve reminisced of her early life in England, and had memories of nearby Croydon airport being bombed by the Luftwaffe in the summer of 1940, and certainly of the Blitz. At age 21, she and her special friend of 60+ years, Vicky (Pauline) Gardner, immigrated to Canada where they lived for the rest of their lives. They used to visit Croydon regularly, and it was always a delight for her nephews, Adrian and Philip, to see Eve again. Eve loved and doted on animals, and had many dogs and cats throughout her lifetime. Eve had a particular compassion for rescue animals and her current dog, Petra, is one of them. Eve had pictures displayed throughout her house of her previous dogs and cats. She took Petra out to the dog park almost daily until she stopped driving. Eve’s close friends describe her as always speaking highly of her family and England, telling them how much they meant to her. Many of her friends found Eve to be an inspiration, an intelligent and witty person who had charm and a caring heart, which made her a great friend to them. Eve will be sorely missed by all those who loved her.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. James Anglican Church, Fergus.
