Obituary for Elizabeth Bernice Mitchell

Born in Smithville, September 7, 1938 – November 29, 2014
Beloved wife of the late David Mitchell (2010). She passed away peacefully in the condo she was so proud of in Fergus with her rosary in hand. Loving mother of Mark and his wife Laura, Robert (Norman) and Julia (Christine). Cherished nana to Jackson and Emily. Predeceased by her parents Graham & Bernice Cosby. She will be dearly missed by her family – Wilma, Ken, Walter, Sheila, Ralph, Gary and Mildred (her go-to Tim Horton’s coffee partner). Elizabeth touched the lives of many dear friends at St. Joseph’s church and Pierpoint with kindness, humour and compassion. Her time spent as a volunteer for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul characterized her generosity and commitment to her community. Elizabeth had a strong network of loving friends. The family would particularly like to thank Elaine Taylor & Debbie Smith for being deeply caring and supportive over the years.
Mom gave up her teaching career to raise her three children in Streetsville ON. Her children and grandchildren appreciate the time she spent dedicated to their school work, extracurricular activities and family life.
After David retired, mom set the course for several global adventures. She was particularly fond of Ireland, Alaska and Hawaii resulting in a fondness for whiskey, baked Alaska and Elvis’ Blue Hawaii.
In recent years she continued to travel extensively with her adventurous spirit taking her to France, Israel and Italy. She found great enjoyment in vising the places that were significant to her faith. These trips put her “10000 steps a day” to good use.
