Born in Balfeich, Fordoun, Scotland to the late Elizabeth Leslie – resident poetess of Fergus and Bill Leslie, on May 15, 1916. Betty passed peacefully into the hands of her LORD on September 20, 2007, after a fulfilling life in serving Him and serving others. Her caring and giving attitude was experienced by her family and friends. Betty was predeceased by her best friend and love of her life – Ken. She leaves two children, Pat (Clare) Newson and Ken (Jean) Burns. Her prayers were an invaluable inheritance for her three grandchildren and spouses Michelle (Newson) John Mann, Sonya (Newson) Craig Young, Ashleigh Burns, as well as her seven great grandchildren: Kevin, Kristin, Micheal Mann, Jessica, Tyler, Stephanie, Lindsay Young. Betty was predeceased by her two sisters Sarah Leslie and Nina (Leslie) Smart (Scotland), brother in laws Bill Pearson, Edward Burns and Jim Smart. She leaves her sister/brother in law Pauline (Burns) and John McIntosh, sisters in law Marion (Burns) Pearson and Marion Burns (California). Betty loved children and for many years was very involved in the roll of teaching with Good News Bible Clubs and Sunday School classes at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian and Bethel Baptist Churches in Fergus. For over 50 years she also had an active and supportive roll in the Gideon auxillary. She was a woman who sacrificially gave herself and her means to help others.
