On Sunday September 3rd with her family at her side Eileen slipped from her earthly bounds and went home to her eternal rest.
Born August 5th 1919 in Trinidad to Martin & Fayette O’Brien Eileen was the sibling of Edna, John, Aubrey, David, Molly, Terrance, Patsy and is survived by sister Joy.
Mother of four children Rodney (Diane), Pamela (J.D.), Angus (Beth) and Donna (Kip). Grandmother of twelve - Sharon, Allan & Christopher – Trish & John – Rachael, Elizabeth, Dominic, Zoe & Samantha – Jessica & Hillary. Great-Grandmother of twenty – Lee & Ross – Harry & James – Mark & Danny – Alex, Liam & Isabelle – Matthew, Brenna & Laura – Nicole & Michael – Sebastian & Lorenzo - Shiloh & Lilli – Eli & Lyla. Great-Great-Grandmother of three – Jackson, Gabriel & Charlie. Eileen took great pleasure in reciting her progeny by name and her large family although spread across the seas was always dear to her.
After the death of her husband Frank in 1970 Eileen moved to Canada with young Donna to Join Pamela and her family. Eileen had a passion for flowers and enjoyed a successful career as a florist creating countless beautiful bridal bouquets over the years.
Eileen’s sons remained in Trinidad and whether they came north or she went south the family ties remained solid. Eileen had very close relationships with her many nieces & nephews as well. Her little home in Waterloo which she shared with sister Patsy rang with laughter as the extended family would gather for celebrations large and small.
The family would like to sincerely thank the amazing staff of nurses and care-givers at Hilltop Manor in Cambridge for their kind and loving attention showed to Eileen over the last few years. They are this world’s living Angels. Thank you to Kathy for your companionship and gentle friendship with Eileen.
Eileen will be forever remembered as a gracious elegant lady with a loving heart and wonderful sense of humour. She loved her gardens, she loved her little dog Robbie and above all she loved her family. God speed dear lady, may the soil be rich, the skies be sunny and the fishing be bountiful in your little piece of heaven.
