June 10, 1932-April 29, 2017
Mom went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Saturday, April 29, 2017 in her 85th year. She was re-united with Dad on his birthday. Left to miss the best Mom are her children Len (Kim), Ken (Heidi), Brad (Glory) and Sharon Scott (Rick). Mom’s greatest joy in life was being Grandma to her 9 grandchildren; Kaileigh Osburn (Ryan), Tali and Brady Scott (Noelle), Montana (Nick), Lexey and Logan Burns, Allyssa Savage (Alex) and Dannielle (Mike) and Zach Burns. She took great pleasures in her 4 great grandsons, Trace & Trent Savage and Parker & Cooper Osburn. Mom is also survived by her brother Don Lockhart (Beth). Predeceased by her husband Don (2011) and her sisters Elva O’Hare and Hazel Mason.
Mom was born on June 10, 1932 in Salem to Harry and Muriel Lockhart. “Mrs. Burns” was a school teacher, starting her career in a one room schoolhouse at Cull’s School in West Garafraxa in 1951 and retiring from Elora Jr. Public School in 1989, with stops at many other schools in between. Mom was a kind woman and full of grace. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Fergus since its beginning 75 years ago.
Visitation will be held at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus, on Thursday, May 4 from 6:00-9:00pm and at Bethel Baptist Church, 675 Victoria Terrace in Fergus on Friday, May 5 from 1:30 to 2:30, followed by her funeral service at 2:30pm. If desired, donations to Groves Memorial Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
“She opens her mouth with wisdom and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue” Proverbs 31:26
We love you Mom and Grandma and will miss you every day.
