The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Edward Hawkins can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Edward James Hawkins

Edward James  Hawkins
On November 5th, 2017 at Groves Hospital, Edward (Ted) Hawkins, 83, passed away due to complications after hip surgery.He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jean Connor, his brother-in-law Jon Murray, of Fergus, his daughter Lesli Schelling, her husband Hank, Ted's two grandsons Chris (Tasha) and Dylan, all of Thunder Bay. Ted's sister and her family in California, along with other relatives and friends will miss Ted. Ted was predeceased by his parents, a nephew, sister and brother-in-law.
Ted loved his family, gardening, woodworking, bird watching, dancing, playing pool and darts. Ted served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a member of the Fergus Legion.
Ted was very clever (he was 11yrs old in gr 9), witty ("Whatever"!), dependable, friendly, honest, sincere and strong-willed. Ted was deeply devoted to Jean. For the last 16 years of his life, Ted was Jean's caregiver.

Thanks to Ted's surgeon Dr. Hoey and the nurses at Guelph General, GP Dr. Westendorp and the nurses at Groves Hospital. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Incitti, she and Kim were with Ted at the time of his passing.
According to Ted's wishes there will be no service. Cremation has taken place.
