Suddenly on Thursday, April 7, 2005, doing what he loved, walking through the farm fields that were his heart and soul for 79 years. Beloved husband of Helen (McKinnon) Lindsay for 52 years. Loved father who provided gentle guidance and encouragement to his four children, Jim and Cindy Lindsay of Elora, Barbara and Alan Maguire of Hawkestone, Elizabeth and Warren Bishenden of Aurora and Andrew and Tracy Lindsay of Elora. Proud grandfather of Jaimie and Julia Lindsay; Bryan and Meghan Maguire; Rose, Jack and Stuart Bishenden; and Malcolm and Heather Lindsay. Also survived by his sister Charlotte (Gordon) Simpson; and sister-in-law Mary Bender and Janet (Jurgen) Becker. Doug will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home and Chapel 280 St. David Street, S. Fergus, on Sunday April 10, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Fergus on Monday at 11 am. Interment to follow at Belsyde Cemetery, Fergus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Groves Memorial Community Hospital Building Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
