Obituary for Dorothy mary Randall

RANDALL, DOROTHY MARY. Passed away at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Harriston on Friday Dec 9th, 2005. She was in her 87th year. Dorothy was the eldest daughter of the late T. Norman Rowcliffe and Mary McMaster of Erin Township. On March 2, 1940 she married Arthur Robert Randall of Guelph. Art was sent overseas in May of 1940 for the duration of WW 11 and they were not reunited again until 1945. Upon his return they lived several years in Newcastle and their later life in the Elora area. They moved to Mount Forest in 1979. Art pre-deceased her in 1983 and she moved to Holstein in 1986 to be closed to family. Unfortunately, health issues arose and she became a resident of Caressent Care Nursing Home in Harriston in 1992.Dorothy was the dear mother of Lynda (Gordon) Parkinson of Guelph and Earl (Marie) Randall of Holstein. She was dear grandmother of Alan Rogers of Guelph; Lisa Pynn of Guelph; Peter (Autumn) Randall of Belleville and Denise (Nick) Smith of Belleville. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren; Tyler and Nicole Pynn of Guelph; Gwen and Lily Randall of Belleville and Eric Smith of Bellville. Dorothy is also survived by her sister Rita McLeod of Barrie; niece Heather Baird of Barrie and nephew Scott (Leaha) McLeod of Erin. Pre-deceased by brother in law Archie McLeod. Dorothy with her very quiet gentle nature lived life dedicated to her husband and family. She took great joy in family gatherings and her grandchildren. She and her late husband were avid members of the Legion and Dorothy was a member of the Ladies Auxillary in Elora and in Mount Forest. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday Dec 13, 05 at the GRAHAM A. GIDDY FUNERAL HOME 37 CHURCH STREET, ELORA. From 1:00 P.M. till 3:00 P.M. at which time a funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at a later date at the Blair Belfountain Community Cemetery, Belfountain . Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Fund or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by family.
