Obituary for David Millard Steiner

On January25th, 2006 in his ninety first year. Treasured father of Linda Mowatt, son-in-law Alex, and Grandpa of Heather and Christopher. Serving throughout WW11, Flight Lieutenant Steiner left the air force with distinction to complete his course work as a Professional Engineer. Millard's management career with Behr Manning, later Norton Company of Canada was a source of great personal satisfaction. He provided significant civic service for the city of Brantford where he resided from 1956 to 1970. Millard modeled integrety for his working colleagues, his friends and his family throughout his life. A quiet and private gentleman, he was known by those he touched to be kindly, wise and infinitely loyal. His sense of responsibility for those who needed his care and support over the years has been quietly shouldered without concern for self or recognition. He remained unflagging in his zest for greeting each new day and in his curiosity about the world he lived in. The north country was a favorite place where, as a young man, he did some rigorous survey work of crown land, and then returned in his middle years to fish with his long time buddy Jack. His other favorite place was St. Simons Island where he walked the beaches early in the morning with his beloved. He so appreciated the many folks in Fergus who welcomed and supported him when he arrived there some 6 years ago. The family wishes to express appreciation to all the very kind staff at Highland Manor and the excellent care from Groves Memorial Hospital's medical professionals. Donations can be directed to the charity of choice. Funeral Services entrusted to Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus, (519) 843-3100.
