Obituary for David Michael Brierley

David Michael Brierley died on November 8, 2022 at his home in Fergus, Ontario.

He was predeceased by his first wife Marriella (née Pollonais). He is survived by his wife Carolyn (née Adam), sons Gerard (Gerry) and Peter, his brother Desmond (New Zealand) and his step children Kevin Adam, Christine Tafaro and their families.

David was born on October 8, 1935 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. David embarked on what would become a long and rewarding career at the Bank of Nova Scotia as an office boy, in Trinidad. His work ethic and natural ability were soon recognized and this led to a series of promotions and advancements. In 1971 David and his family moved to Toronto to start a new life. By 1990 he had been appointed Senior Vice President of the International Division, Credit, which he held until his retirement in 1996. David and Carolyn were married in 1998 and spent two years together in Bermuda, where David held the position of Senior Vice President of the Bank of N.T. Butterfield. He and Carolyn eventually retired to the country where they enjoyed their horses, dogs and hikes on the Bruce Trail. There were several travel adventures which took them to destinations in Europe, South America and Antarctica.

David’s life will be celebrated by his immediate family.
