Obituary for Darlene Kieswetter (Barclay)

Darlene Kieswetter (Barclay)
Passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side, on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in her 62nd year. Darlene will be tremendously missed by her husband Gerry and her caring children Christina and Joe. Greatly missed by her mother Betty “Doreen” Barclay and her brother Bill (Melanie). She will be greatly missed by numerous brothers and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Predeceased by her father Glenn Barclay.
Darlene was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for 36 years and prided herself in caring for others.
She was a woman who lived life to the fullest and never backed down from a challenge. She was a fighter and had an unbeatable spirit; living by a motto of “one day at a time”.
All who met or knew her knew of her positivity and strength. Many will remember gatherings at “Barkies Square”, her love of country music, fishing, wine, live theatre, travel and adventure, and her love for her puppy, Phoebe. Above all, those who knew her knew of her overpowering love of family; her children and husband were her pride and joy and biggest legacy.
Friends will be received at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home – Fergus Chapel, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus, on Tuesday, February 27th from 7:00 to 9:00pm and Wednesday, February 28th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm. Funeral Service will be conducted at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 325 St. George St. East in Fergus, on Friday, March 2nd, 2018 at 10:00am. Interment to take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Owen Sound, Ontario following the Service and Celebration of Life. Memorial donations can be directed to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or The Kidney Foundation of Canada www.grahamgiddyfh.com

Special thanks to all the medical professionals who were instrumental in helping Darlene throughout the years, and the many friends and family who supported us throughout this journey.
