ELIZABETH W. JOHNSTON (Betty, nee Bruce) age 91, surrounded by her loving family at Groves Hospital, Fergus passed away suddenly and peacefully from a 3 day illness. Betty grew up and raised her family in Fergus. Daughter to George and Marion Bruce, and predeceased by brother Bill, sister Margaret and son Rob (2005).
Married in 1947 to Harry (deceased 1995). Survived by sons Bruce (Janice), Scott (Heather), and daughter-in-law Catherine (wife of Rob). Loved and missed by grandsons: Chris, Mitchell (Heather), Russ (Dawn), Kevin (Julie) and Steven; and by great-grandchildren: Caleb, Logan, Cole, Addison, Connor, and Emmett; and by cousin Margaret Box (nee Bruce). A celebration of Betty’s life will be held Saturday January 13, at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St S, Fergus. Visitation at 11am, service at 12 noon, with reception following. Interment will follow this summer in Prince Edward Island, next to her husband Harry.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Groves Hospital, Fergus or the Centre Wellington Food Bank. Betty’s family are extremely grateful for the time they shared with her on Boxing Day.
