Obituary for Beth Hindley

Passed away peacefully on June 20, 2020 at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus in her 97th year. Beth was born March 4, 1924 in Grand Valley. Beloved wife of the late Bruce Hindley(2016), Dear mother of Peter(Linda) and Nancy(Gary) Tonkin. Loving grandma of Earl Hindley(Sarah), April Michaud(Matt), Janice Groenheide(Rob), Katie Dhanju(Naveen) and Matthew Tonkin(Jenna). Proud great grandma of Avery, Marissa and Brynn Groenheide, Emilia Dhanju, Everly Tonkin and William Hindley. Predeceased by her parents, Peter and Edith(Davidson) McArthur, brother-in-law Harold Thompson and sister-in-law Helen(Hindley) Thompson.
Mom taught school in Grand Valley, Cumnock and Acton and then retired from teaching when she married dad. They lived on the farm in Eramosa for 60 years before moving to The Highland Manor Retirement Residence in Fergus where mom remained for the rest of her life. Mom enjoyed life on the farm with dad and they were fortunate to take several wonderful trips throughout their marriage. Mom attended Mimosa United Church for over 60 years and was a life member of the Mimosa United Church Women. She was a kind and loving mother and took great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many thanks to all of the wonderful staff at Highland Manor and to Dr. Stickney for taking care of mom for these past 9 years. There will be a PRIVATE memorial service held at The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South on Thursday July 2nd followed by burial at Johnson Cemetery.
