Bert,
You were one of the good guys, in fact, one of the best. The guy that always seemed to be so positive and had a smile and a hello for everyone he crossed paths with. The guy that was always ready for a laugh and could brighten your day with one of his ear-to-ear grins. The guy that led by example and never had a bad thing to say about anyone, even when others did. The guy that you felt instantly at ease with because he made everyone feel welcome – he was everyone’s friend. The guy that you could tell anything to, knowing that he would gladly listen to all you had to say and never repeat a word or it because he was just that noble. The guy who was a consummate gentleman and the definition of a family man that loved his family, especially his girls, fiercely.
The world is a dimmer place without you and your smile but we are all so much better for having known you and for having been able to call you a friend. You’re positivity throughout your illness and the grace and courage with which you handled everything was truly inspiring. I know you are at peace now and making things brighter up in heaven. I’ll always remember your sense of humour, your kindness and compassion for others and the warmth of your smile. I know I'll see you again one day in the great beyond :) God speed friend.
Love,
Nicole
You would probably gag but I have to say I love you and cherish the memory of your friendship over the past 20 odd years. So young when you started at GSW. I remember Ray Stone showing you around on your first day. I could have sworn you looked so young, I thought you should still be in high school. You were a cherished friend of Denver and I will always remember his stories of the regular Friday "get together" and the cook offs, all of which he enjoyed so much. Most especially, I will remember your patience and kindness when Denver started having troubles. I can only hope that he found you this morning and the two of you are having a laugh over all the fuss with Rafer in the background playing his heavy metal music. Yes, heaven will be a lot more lively now. God bless you Bert. I will miss you always.
