Hill, Bernice Viola "Hornsby"
It is with great sadness that the family of Bernice Hill announces her passing on Wednesday, December 7 2022 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of Harvey Hill. Loving mother of Brian (Jeannie), Timothy (Cheryl), Dianne Hill, Katherine (Leonard ) Simms, and the late Donald Hill. Cherished grandmother of 14 and great grandmother of 28.
Bernice was born and raised in Elora, Ontario to the late William and Olive Hornsby. She lived in the Elora area for her entire life. As a young woman she worked at Chalmers Press. She married Harvey in July, 1951 and moved into the property next door to her mother. Together they renovated it and made it into a home for themselves and their five children. Later on Bernice and Harvey built two more homes for their family.
Bernice was always busy over the years raising her children, working outside the home, growing vegetable gardens and helping run the strawberry business. Later in life she worked for the VON as a home care aid and volunteered at the Second Time Around. Bernice was a devoted mother who put her family first. Always finding time to babysit, plan and host large family gatherings and lend a helping hand whenever needed. Bernice will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts.
Family and friends may visit at Hope Springs United Church (Formerly Elora United Church), 75 Geddes St. Elora on Saturday, December 17 from 10am - 12pm with a service to follow beginning at 12:15 pm. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. www.grahamgiddyfh.com
