Peacefully at Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Facility on Monday September 2, 2013 at the age of 88. Beloved husband to the late Florance(Chris) Hickey. Loving father to Lesley Par and husband Frank and son Bernard Hickey Jr., daughter-in-law Monica. Proud grandfather of Kristen Sharer, Craig and Collin Hickey, great grandfather of Braydon, Bennett and Madison Sharer. Bernard was born and raised in London, England. He proudly served in the British Military during the war, both naval and air forces. Immigrated to Canada with his wife and children in 1957. Was employed with Redpath Sugar as an executive for over 25 years. Proud member of The Royal Canadian Legion (Elora Branch), The Masons as well as serving for over 15yrs. as superintendent for the Toronto Metropolitan Auxiliary Police Force.
Bernard was a strong and devoted man in all aspects of his life, and he will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Funeral service for Bernie will be held at The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 37 Church Street, Elora, on Friday September 6th, 2013 at 2pm. Reception to follow at the Elora Legion Branch 229, 110 Metcalfe Street, Elora.
