Obituary for Barry James Smeltzer

Our hearts are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Barry James Smeltzer, at the age of 60 due to a brief illness. Barry leaves behind his loving wife Brenda who would have been celebrating their 40th year of marriage in April, his cherished children Brad (Kerri), Brock (Allison) Brittany (Jake) and his very special grandchildren Jacob, Liam and Brody. Barry was predeceased by his Mother and Father Murray and Marie Smeltzer. Survived by his brothers and sisters Beverley (Lloyd) Fisher, Brian (Debbie) Smeltzer, Robert (Suzette) Smeltzer, Kimberley (Steve) Dullard. His mother and father in law Robert and Dorene Clark, his brother and sister in laws Cindy (Rob) Driscoll, Greg (Diane) Clark, Kevin (Tammie) Clark and his many nieces and nephews, family and friends. Barry was born and raised in Eramosa township into a hard working farming family. Barry’s passion for life took him to many places allowing him to pursue many career opportunities. He was hard working, free-spirited and never stopped striving to reach his goals. Although he kept busy with his many projects, he lived by the saying “family comes first.” Barry loved meeting people and helping anyone he could. He has touched the lives of many and the cherished memories will live on forever. There will be a celebration of life held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 275, 500 Blair Street in Fergus on Saturday, January 14th 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00pm. A formal service will begin at 3:00pm. Memorial Donations can be directed to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 275 in Fergus or a Charity of one’s choice.
