Barbara Joan "Barb" Ferguson (Eckenswiller)
FERGUSON, Barbara Joan (nee Eckenswiller)
Passed away on Tuesday October 20th in her 77th year after a courageous battle with cancer at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus with her family by her side. Beloved wife of Alan Ferguson for 52 years. Loving mother of Janice and her husband Brad Homer of Burlington and James and his wife Teresita of Miami, Florida. Cherished grandmother of Kevin, Matthew, Lydia and Andrew. Much loved sister to George(Reiko) of Surrey, B.C., Lorraine Hertel(Bob) of Stratford, Morris(Erma) of Calgary, Patrick(Jeanine) of Calgary, Gillen(Kathleen) of Hanover, and Mary Holland(Bill) of Kingston. Remembered fondly by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Barbara was born and grew up in the township of Carrick near Walkerton. She was predeceased by her parents George and Evelyn(nee Kuntz) Eckenswiller. Barbara devoted her life to her family and especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed many memorable vacations with her family including a recent cruise/tour of Alaska and the Yukon for a 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration. Barbara was a member of the Fergus Curling Club until her arthritis made it difficult to continue playing. She especially enjoyed the fun and fellowship that the game provided. Visitation will take place at the Graham Giddy Funeral Home and Chapel, 280 St. Davis Street South, Fergus, on Friday October 23rd from 11am-1pm. A private family funeral will follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be directed towards the Groves Memorial Hospital Building Fund.
