Obituary for Ann Elizabeth Widmeyer

Ann Widmeyer of Elora passed away peacefully at Groves Memorial Hospital on Friday, November 18, 2011 after a short but hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Ann was born on December 20, 1932 in Toronto to Olive & George Burnett. Ann worked as a bookkeeper at Associated Mixed Feeds and at Howes & Reeves in Fergus and in later years at Jo-Anne's Artistic Flowers. Ann's greatest accomplishment and love was her daughter Kim and her grandchildren. They were the centre of her world and she bursted with pride when speaking of them. She was a hands on Mom and Nan and was always there and available for her family, whether babysitting, being back-up mom or cheering her grandchildren on in all their scholastic and sporting endeavours. Ann is survived by and will be greatly missed by her daughter Kim and her husband Len Burns and by her grandchildren, Allyssa, Montana, Lexey & Logan Burns. Also survived by her sisters Mary Tlucko and Joan Burnett and by her adored nieces and nephews. At Ann's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Her wish was to be cremated and be with her parents in Northern Ontario. Her family will honour this request with a private family memorial at a later date. If desired memorial donations can be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research, cards available at the Funeral Home (519) 843-3100. Arrangements entrusted to Graham A. Giddy Funeral Homes. www.grahamgiddyfh.com
