Obituary for Ann Katherine Black (Hawkins)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved sweetheart and mother Ann this past Friday at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by family, at the age of 58.

Ann was the loving wife of Brian for 36 years, and proud mother to Rachel, Megan, and fur babies Reese and Talia. Predeceased by parents W. Harold (1998) and Irene (2013) Hawkins, brother Harold (1996), and in-laws Bill (2008) and Arnetta (2019). She will be deeply missed by her brothers Fred (Lorna) and Ron (Donna) Hawkins, sister Marie (Jim) Kennedy, in-laws Billy (Kelly) and David (Renate) Black, and her many nieces and nephews.

Ann was an employee of Spinic Manufacturing (Linamar) for 36 years, starting as a receptionist in 1987 and working up to the title of Quality Manager, a position she proudly held for the past several years. She will be greatly missed by her colleagues at Spinic and the friends she had there.

A resident of Guelph/Eramosa nearly her whole life, Ann loved spending time looking out at her farm where she had built a loving home with her family.

We extend a sincere thank you to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and attending paramedics for the care they provided mom.

A visitation in her honour will be held on Thursday, July 6 at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus from 3-8 pm. She will be laid to rest at St. Peter’s Cemetery following a private family service on Friday, July 7.

Donations may be made to St. Mary’s Hospital and their CVICU Suites, as well as the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
