After winning the battle of life for 75 years, Ben, surrounded by his family, peacefully and quietly passed away on August 22nd, 2010 at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus. He will be sadly missed by his loving friend and constant companion Jessie Leighton. His children Rose Marie Becker, Marilyn (Verne) Pharoah, Kathy Alessio, Heather (Keith) Martin, Joe (Mena) Becker, and John Becker will cherish his mischievous smile and quick wit. He is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. His siblings and in-laws, Joan (Butch) Brock, Marion Geier, and Bruna (Jack) Becker are forever richer to have had such a brother as Ben. He was loved and will be greatly missed also by the Leighton and Cawthra families. Gone before him is his patient long time beloved, Elizabeth Merkley. He is also predeceased by his parents Alton and Mary, his brother Jack, his sister Irene Geier, and grandson Barry Townsend. We are grateful to have known him and he will be so missed. Visitation will be held at Graham Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus, 280 St. David St. South on Thursday, August 26th, 2010 from 7 – 9pm and 1 hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at the funeral home on Friday August 27, 2010 at 6:00 pm. Interment on Friday August 27, 2010, 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery in Guelph.
