Passed away on March 20th, 2014 at Guelph General Hospital at the age of 82. Lovingly remembered by his wife Leyla. Sadly missed by his brother Peter (Jill) Simpson and his sister Enid (Reg) Wooltorton and brother-in-law Ronald Bartram. Predeceased by his sister Mary Bartram. Allen lived life to the full. He enjoyed sailing, cricket, photography, and music. He had a quick wit and sense of humor and enjoyed discussing politics. Born in England and emigrating to Canada in 1968 Allen was a resident of Elora and Eden Mills before settling in Guelph. In Guelph where Allen ran his design and consulting business he was a member of the Rotary Club. Some of his designs won Best Consumer product design (1996) and earned a spot in the New York Museum of Design. While Allen lived in Elora he was a local celebrity, hosting a TV and radio show in the 70’s. Visitation will be held for Allen at the Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus from 10:00-11:00am, a Memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am.
