Obituary for Allan Maclean Howard

Allan Maclean Howard
Peacefully at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus, Ontario on October 22, 2016 surrounded by his loving family, Allan Maclean Howard in his 82nd year, beloved husband of Dale(nee Robinson) Maclean Howard. Predeceased by his parents, Allan and Audrey, brothers Bruce (Linda) and Douglas, and our littlest angel daughter Robin Anne. Lovingly remembered by his children Janet (Andrew), Meridyth (Steve), Allan (Yvonne) and Scott (Bev) and grandchildren Mary, Michael (Laura), Jessica, Sarah, Avalon, Faith, AJ, Ethan, Zoey and young friend Scotty, Barkley’s Best Bud. Lovingly remembered by Brother-in-law Brian (Merle) and family, cousins Janet, Betsy and families.
After 70 years together, the Three Musketeers Allan, Bob and Philip become two and carry on with Allan’s spirit.

A true gentleman to the end Allan grew up in Toronto and attended the South Prep and UCC. He spent his entire career in the insurance industry and went out of his way to be a mentor to many young professionals. He loved his vehicles from the Harley of his youth to the Kawasaki of his senior years. He enjoyed family time on Lake of Bays and Lake Joseph, savouring the great privilege of watching his grandchildren out in the water in the Papa boat. Allan was very in tune with each grandchild and ensured that he had a special bond and relationship with each one of them. Allan was a committed and eternally patient Dad who thought nothing of joining his kids atop a six foot superball – and the bone fractures that followed. He and Dale enjoyed their retirement years together in the countryside surrounding Fergus. During his illness this year Allan amazed us with graciousness and efforts to convince that he was just great. Many thanks to Dr. Rose-Janes and the truly wonderful staff at Groves Memorial.
