Obituary for Alice Elizabeth "Betty" Davison (Harris)

Passed away painlessly on January 28, 2019 after a valiant 3 month battle following surgery after a fall.

Loving mother of Kathleen Marie Mortensen (Kevin) of Elora. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill and their infant son, Paul Francis. Also, her loving parents, Guy Wheelock Harris and Sarah Catherine (nee McNeil) of Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Grand-daughter of Neil and Alice McNeil "other Mama" (nee Gouthro). Sister of Guy Harris (Cathy) and dear deceased James Francis (Eleanor), Kathleen Hawley, and Joan Read.

Betty was a generous, loving woman who cared deeply for her family. She had a great sense of humour and a wry, sometimes caustic wit. An avid reader and lover of classical music, she could play Chopin on the piano, and was always thrilled to get the "Final Jeopardy!" She had a sharp mind that did not desert her and her memory was a marvel.

Betty loved to cook and bake for family and friends; her blueberry muffins were the best! A private person, nonetheless, Betty made friends easily with her ready smile.

After moving to Elora in 2011, Betty connected with the wonderful ladies in the C.W.L. at St. Mary's and was made very welcome. In her final year, she lived at Heritage River Retirement Centre and in no time at all, made strong friendships and even joined the choir.
Sincere thanks to all involved in the care of her last few months and final days. Particular thanks to Dr. Douglas Roach, whose care and compassion was a real comfort to us. Friends will be received at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 37 Church Street East in Elora, on Wednesday, January 30th, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00pm, with Parish Prayers at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary the Immaculate Roman Catholic Church, 267 Geddes Street in Elora, on Thursday, January 31st, 2019 at 11:00am. Interment at St. Mary’s & St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in Elora. Memorial donations in Betty’s memory can be directed the Humane Society of Guelph. https://guelphhumane.ca
