Obituary for Adrienne Schroeder

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Adrienne Marguerite Schroeder, age 87, in the early morning of Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Adrienne fought a long and courageous battle until the Lord decided it was time to summon her home. As was her wish, she peacefully drew her last breath at home surrounded by her husband and family.

Adrienne was born in Espanola, Ontario, dear daughter of the late Rudolph and Noella (nee Fournier) Bussieres. She is survived by her husband Harold Ernest Schroeder and by her children Rick (Linda) of Fergus, Kimberly (Richard) Bimm of Woodville, Brad (Heather) of St. George and Darin (Jacqueline) of Austin, Texas. She will sadly be missed by her 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Adrienne is also survived by her dear sister Francoise (John Huffman) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and predeceased by her brothers Charlie, Jean and Maurice Bussieres and sisters Yvonne Piccinetti and Mona Potvin.

Adrienne and Harold met on a blind date at a church service and were married on October 8, 1955 - raising their family in Sudbury, Ontario. When the children were older, Adrienne worked at the Sudbury Star and Simpson Sears. Adrienne loved her family ferociously and always enjoyed visits with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Never missing an important date, she expertly timed the delivery of birthday and anniversary cards to always arrive on the correct day. She made friends easily and would happily dote on anyone who dropped in, be it family or friends.

She enjoyed shopping for clothes and purses and having her nails done, always looking her best wherever possible. In earlier years, Adrienne and Harold enjoyed their success with league bowling and later, playing tennis as Snowbirds while in Florida. She enjoyed playing a competitive game of sequence and Mexican Trains with family and friends and was always willing to help an opponent out of a jam. Adrienne had many friends she enjoyed spending time with at the Fergus Senior Centre, playing WII bowling every week. During the COVID pandemic, she enjoyed the camaraderie of her Thursday online Bingo games with the girls.

Adrienne is remembered for her great sense of humour. She loved to laugh and did it well, as anyone who met her will attest to. We have lost the Matriarch of our family but our hearts are filled with love, loss and memories of a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
