Owned and operated by Graham and Janet Giddy since 1981, this historic Fergus funeral home dates its origin to the village of Belwood (Douglas) in the mid 1800’s as the undertaking business of Mr. Onslow Jupp. It is unclear how long Mr. Jupp had served the thriving community of Belwood prior to the arrival of the Credit Valley Railroad in the mid 1870's. The business exchanged hands from Mr. Jupp to Mr. Elum Hanna sometime between then and 1912 when the business passed hands again to a Mr. Joe Johnston.
In the spring of 1924 Mr. Johnston moved the business and his large family to Fergus. Johnston and his wife Nellie Vallery along with sons, Gordon and Don ran the family business until 1947, when it was sold to Mr. Lorne Pattison. Changing hands once more to Mr. Larry Parker, Graham and Janet Giddy purchased the funeral home in 1981 and have operated it to present day.
