I haven't seen him since we served together on the Kootenay but I recognized him immediately from the photo of him in uniform.

Condolence: I served with Wayne on HMCS Kootenay and we lived in the same messdeck. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and I am very glad that we were able to reconnect when he came to Halifax a few years ago.

Condolence: I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Carol and the entire Gammie family for their loss. Wayne was a proud veteran on the Royal Canadian Navy and member of the Royal Canadian Legion. I had the honour of carrying flags with him during the opening ceremonies of the Fergus Highland Games and most recently, attending the Elora Remembrance Day Observance and Dinner on 11 Nov 2014. I will miss his friendly jabs about the Army and his warm welcoming handshake. "Fair winds and following seas" my friend. You will be missed.

Condolence: Sorry for your loss to Carol, Marjorie, Jackie, Doug and their families. My dear friend Wayne, you always tried your hardest to be a grumpy guy, but through it all I still loved you like a big brother, may you RIP, will miss you.

Condolence: As a friend, a mess mate and as a person I remember Wayne was an integral part of Kootenay's Engineering crew. After the accident on 23 October our paths never crossed again and we had only met again all these years later during the Kootenay reunions where we certainly had many items in common to talk about.
Wayne will be missed by all his ship mates especially those from Kootenay's 11 mess.

Condolence: i knew Wayne as a kid growing up in Elora and again as a member of the RCN in the 60s/70s. Wayne was a great guy and will truely be missed. You served your country well my friend but now it's time to rest To you I say Bravo Zulu for a job well done and may far winds and following seas be yours always.
