About Us

Graham and Janet Giddy have been dedicated to a high standard of service and caring for the families of Centre Wellington since 1981. Very active in the community with various organizations through a variety of volunteer roles, Graham and Janet are honoured to have called this area their home for over 25 years.

Janet and Graham purchased the funeral homes in Fergus and Elora in 1981. Graham began working in the funeral profession in 1969 at the Cardinal Funeral Homes in Toronto, and has been a licensed funeral director since 1971. Janet and Graham are the parents of Robert and Scott and proud grandparents of 3 grandchildren, Braedon, Colton and Andrew. Janet is very involved with the community and offers her support through the Hospice Wellington as a palliative care volunteer and as an assistant in the Groves Memorial Community Hospital Gift Shop. Graham is an avid golfer and curler as well as a member of the Fergus Elora Rotary Club (1982). Graham has been a member of the O.G.R. for over 10 years and at present is region chairperson for Ontario and Eastern Canada.


Scott A. Giddy, Manager - Fergus

Scott A. Giddy, Manager - Fergus

Scott moved to Fergus with his parents in 1981 and attended school in both Fergus and Guelph. Post-secondary, Scott attended Seneca College in Toronto where he studied Small Business Management, moving on to study at Humber College where he received his Funeral Director's license. Gaining valuable experience as a Funeral Director at the Ward Funeral Home and the Humphrey Funeral Home in Toronto, Scott decided to attend the Ontario Police College and subsequently served as a Police Constable with the Toronto Police Service and later with the Guelph Police Service.
 
In December of 2004, Scott joined Graham A. Giddy Funeral Homes as Manager at the Fergus location. Scott looks forward to continuing the tradition of compassion and integrity the communities of Fergus and Elora have come to expect from this strong family business.

Scott is married to Sarah and they have 1 child, Andrew.

Sarah has was born in Fergus, attended York University - Glendon Campus in Toronto where she received an Honors B.A. in Teaching. She currently works as a full time primary school teacher in the area.


Michelle Vandenhoff, Licensed Funeral Director

Michelle joined the Giddy staff in 2006. Born and raised in Stratford, Ontario, Michelle now lives in Kitchener with her husband Mark, and their two daughters Serena and Mariah. In 2001, Michelle retired as a Captain after 11 years with the Canadian Armed Forces and embarked on a new career beginning with the Funeral Services Program at Humber College/Toronto. After an apprenticeship with Ward Funeral Homes in Toronto, Michelle received her license as a funeral director in August 2004. Michelle enjoys curling and downhill skiing (when she has some spare time.)

Milt has been part of the Giddy staff for over 5 years as a Funeral Director’s Assistant. After 29 years of service with the Wellington Terrace Nursing Home in Elora, Milt retired and joined our staff. He and his wife Sandra, currently employed at the Wellington Terrace, have lived in Elora since 1975. They have two children, one living in the area and another living out of town.

Joan joined the support staff in June 2005. She and her husband Robert live in the Belwood area. Her children are Neil (married to Christy) and Jackie (married to Frank) and she has five grandchildren. Joan retired from teaching in 2001 after a long career as an elementary teacher, and since retirement she has worked as an occasional teacher with the Upper Grand District School Board. She is organist and choir director at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Fergus and is accompanist for the Hilltop Singers and the Journeymen.
